Swagbucks Scam

January 24, 2010 By: admin

Swagbucks is a search engine website and the swagbucks.com states that you can earn their own virtual currency called swag bucks by frequently searching on their search engine. These earned swag bucks are then exchange able with some pre-mentioned items on their website. This is attractive enough for many people to gather on their website since almost every one already uses search engines in some way. The search results are actually a combination of Google and Ask search results where the duplicate results are filtered. I haven’t received any scam or fraud reports about swagbucks right now however the discussion area at the end of this page is open to post public opinion. By the time you are reading this post, may be several people might already have posted their own experience with Swagbucks. I am not sure about their plans but apparently their business model looks like they want the people to come for search purposes. When someone searches on Swagbucks, the results are mixed with their own advertisement which is probably their main source of income. In addition to that, they are probably gathering keywords as well to support their other projects. All the search engines including Google and Ask don’t provide enough keywords data to general public so if a company starts its own search engine, it will be a good opportunity to gather keywords. I have been reported that some people have developed bots to auto search on Swagbucks. I am not sure what measures Swagbucks people have taken to detect and separate bots from the actual people but I am sure this is not a good news for them. Every serious online business usually has to deal with such problems in start but in the long such problems are taken care of easily. I have also received reports from some people that their swagbucks account is deactivated without any reason. Probably that’s because the Swagbucks system has mistakenly deactivated their account assuming it is a bot accessing their website. I think they should develop some sort of request rejection method instead of deactivation of member account which obviously will be bad for their repute in the long run. The Swagbucks website now also offers a toolbar for Internet explorer, Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome. It seems that they are not scam and are seriously expanding their business. Hopefully they won’t quickly disappear like millions of other such work online business.

$5 from Paypal? You don’t get paid cash with Swag Bucks, you cash in the points to get prizes.

@Jason …yes, and one of those prizes is a $5 Paypal card. Although I always go for the $5 Amazon cards, myself, so I forget how much the Paypal one goes for (the $5 Amazon card is 450 SB).

Stay away from the special offers. You complete the special offers, Swag Bucks gets paid a referral fee from that company, then Swag Bucks thinks of any excuse not to credit your account for completing the special offer.

I check the Better Business Bureau and Swag Bucks has several complaints that have been filed against them.

Stay away from the special offers.

Agreed. Swagbucks works great. I have made $15 in giftcards in the past two months, and im not on much. If you are planning on signing up, please use this link. You get the same amount of swagbucks, plus me and you will be “connected”, so we both get extra points (therefore, extra money :) )

If they deactivate your account, complain at the BBB here: “http://www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/Swagbuckscom-100088742″

Their surveys feature is pure cornsh**! When you actually get to start a survey and answer a few of their questions, at which point you’ve already given away your details that could actually be part of the survey and most certainly are worth some points, all of a sudden you “are don’t qualify” for this survey. Sometimes you get an explanation such as they’ve already exceeded the number of participants or the survey has already expired. If that’s the case, why bother posting the surveys at all?
So, check the survey link to get your 1 point, but don’t bother doing the surveys. You won’t get any points for giving away free answers.
Oh, and stay away from the “special offers”. There’s nothing special about them and it looks like another scam. You can tell just by reading in on the details.

After I earned 500 Swagbucks and ordered a $5 Amazon gift card, they deactivated my account. The reason they gave me was that I opened multiple accounts. But the fact is that I only opened one account. The tone in their reply email is very tough and rude. And I also didn’t get the $5 Amazon gift card. They seem do not want to help their customers solve problems. So I do not recommend this Swagbucks.com. Maybe some day they will also deactivate your account with an enforced “reason”.
Be careful!

I had accumulated quite a few swag bucks, but I got rid of my old email provider because we went to cable and they won’t let me use them becasue I have to verify in my old account, before I can change my account information, but that provider is gone, so I can’t access my old email account to verify it. I am so bummed ,I had so many swag bucks too. Maybe someone will be helped by this post, if you are going to get a new email provider take care of your swag bucks first!

The site is not legit the site is a scam. Don’t waste your time with SwagBucks you’ll only be disappointed I spend over a month complaining to them and all they did was delete my account after reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for refusing to resolve an issue. PLEASE head my warning if you want a legit earning site try mypoints, mysurvey, toluna, inboxdolllars, pchonlinesurveys, rewardport, myview. ANYTHING BUT SWAGBUCKS! head my warning you will not regret it.

5 Dollar paypal gift card is a scam. It’s always saying that it is currently unavailable even though people have bought it in last 5 minutes.

So I can’t turn my swagbucks to real money. IT SUCKS!

I have been a member since April 2010 and have had no problems with getting my Amazon gift cards. In fast I just put another $5 into my account yesterday from Swagbucks. I had heard some people being deactivated for no reason but I have had no problems.

I do not do any offers that require credit card info and if I do have to put my phone number in I put the Google # I have just for that. I open another window for the videos unless it’s the cooking ones then I watch those so that I can write down whatever recipe we want to try later. Games I do not play the ones you have to spend any SB points for, play for free and after 4 games you get 2 SB, I only play the ones I enjoy and would play anyways so it’s a win win for me.

If you have problems with them, contact them and from what I have heard they do their best to work with you. Just don’t cheat and try to use the Bot programs or you will be deactivated. I’ve have earned over 10,000 points since joining. It’s worth a few minutes a day.

I got a bunch of gift cards and the way I see it is just money. I would rather pay my credit card bill off with the gift cards than use my bank. Why can’t I do this online? Is there a possible way to do it on phone?. I was able to pay my maurices credit card bill with them though..

my account with over a year of swagbucks points nearing 8000pts was just deleted without notice. Now they aren’t answering my emails to complain.
